Join us for Stay & Play, a free playtime program that focuses on parent/child interaction, play and exploration! Visit us, meet other families with young children, play with our toys and make the craft of the week. A brief circle time of fingerplays and songs ends the program.  Appropriate for children ages birth - five years old.  Limit of 25 children! 
 
 
 
 
 Build a Better Cupcake!
 
Friday, June 23, 3:00 pm AND 4:00 pm
 
Kick off the summer with some cupcake decorating! We will be creating two different cupcakes using frosting, sprinkles and candy.  For the final cupcake, children will use their imagination to "build a better cupcake" using all of our supplies.  Winners will receive a prize and an extra raffle ticket for the summer reading club! Quogue Wildlife Refuge Presents...
Birds of Prey!

Meet and learn about live birds of prey, including the Quogue Wildlife Refuge's resident raptors! Children will learn the personal history of each native New York animal and why it lives at the Quogue Wildlife Refuge, as well as the adaptations that allow these animals to be such incredible hunters! Build a Better World: 3D Printing for Kids & Teens!

Want to learn more about 3D printing? Have an idea for a design you want to create and print? Join us for this 3D printing class for kids and teens! Batty About Bats!

Bats are a fascinating group of flying mammals.  Learn about these amazing animals, our local bats, and what you can do to help them out in your own backyard.  No live bats will be brought to the program but we do have a lot of bat props at our disposal.  After a bat introduction we can head outside to detect wild bats in your area.  Prepare to be amazed! Art history in our own backyard! We will explore the art world of the early 20th Century to discover why Pollack’s paintings were so innovative. Rainforest Butterflies!

Children will be introduced to the beauty and variety of lepidoptera fauna, by observing displays of tropical rainforest butterflies and moths, many collected by the presenter on his numerous expeditions! Differences between butterflies and moths, tropical rainforest climate and geography, insect body parts, predation, camouflage, warning coloration, lepidoptera life cycle and other biological topics and concepts will be discussed.
